CLASSIC develops new approaches to communication, sensing, and security using Extremely Large Scale Antenna Arrays (ELSAAs). ELSAAs provide unprecedented control over electromagnetic wavefronts, extending the near-field to kilometer-scale ranges. Our research spans five interconnected areas:
Physics and Modeling
We are developing the fundamental science and engineering needed to build and scale ELSAAs, including new electromagnetic models and devices.
Sensing and Imaging
We are developing new approaches to sensing and imaging that leverage the scale and wavefront control of ELSAAs to characterize complex scenes and objects.
Adaptive Communications and Networks
We are leveraging the ability of ELSAAs to generate structured electromagnetic beams to develop robust, high-data-rate communications.
Security and Privacy
We are investigating new paradigms for security and privacy enabled by ELSAAs.
Systems and Demonstrations
From laboratory prototypes to field demonstrations, we are evaluating new technologies across multiple frequency bands and realistic environments. Partnerships with industry will help accelerate the transition of discoveries into practical applications.
